This allows you to keep surfing after your lesson and you can either keep the board for the whole day after your lesson or just return it back to the truck after you surf!
Which Surfboard Rental in Ventura is Right for Me?
Regardless if you are new to surfing or comfortable with the waves and the water, this guide will help you find the Ventura surfboard rental that is best for you!
Our Storm Blades are a great option for beginners to learn and master standing up on a surfboard. This soft top surfboard is very buoyant making it easier to catch waves on. Our Storm Blades range from 6’0-10’0. For adults learning how to surf, we recommend using 8’0 -10’0 boards and for children 6’0-8’0 boards. This surfboard is a great introduction to surfing and is highly recommended for people new to surfing or for those who have only surfed a few times. Recommended wave height for this Ventura surfboard rental ranges from 1-2ft.
Surf Techs are the perfect next step once you feel you are ready to move on from the Storm Blade. These surfboards are soft on the top but have a hard bottom. The hard bottom allows you to have more drive and speed going down the line on a wave. The soft top allows you to feel safe and comfortable. Our Surf Techs are 9’0 long but are more narrow and thin than the standard soft top. The maneuverability of this board allows you to work more on intermediate skills like riding across the wave and doing turns. Recommended wave height for this Ventura surfboard ranges from 1-3ft.
If you are an intermediate to advanced surfer our NSP surfboards are a fantastic option! We have a 9’0, 8’4”, and a 7’6”. These three boards are your standard fiberglass, hard top surfboards. Each board is meant for more experienced surfers in varying wave conditions. If the waves are small (1-3ft), we would recommend the 9’0 and 8’4” NSP single-fin surfboard. The larger NSP is best for these small waves because it makes it easy to catch the waves and still allows the experienced surfer to do turns and maybe even “hang ten”. If the waves get a little bigger (2-4ft) the 7’6” is a great option. The 7 ‘6” NSP is a good mid-length board and a perfect for someone who is trying to progress from long boards to short boards. This board has a three fin set up making it optimal for doing carves while still having enough length that makes it easier to paddle into waves than the standard short board.
If you are looking for a shortboard, we offer the NSP 6’6”, 6’0, and the Channel Islands Average Joe 5’9”. These three boards are an introduction to riding shortboards. They are fantastic surfboard rentals for Ventura waves. The NSP 6’6” and 6’0 have a fish shape outline with a light rocker and a three fin set up. These boards are perfect for anyone trying to learn to do more high-performance moves like carves and cutbacks. The 5’9” Average Joe is a great grovel board for shortboarders who need a little more foam for the wide variety of point breaks and smaller days in Ventura. Recommended wave height for these surfboards is 3-5ft.

How to make a reservation, rent a board, and return it
Surf rentals are available any day of the week. You have the option of either just walking into our shop and renting there, or reserving equipment online or over the phone! You can rent equipment from our shop location where we provide soft racks and straps for your car if needed. If we are doing surf lessons the day you are looking to rent, we give you the option to meet us at our surf truck down at the beach and rent straight from there. This gives you the convenience to just grab a board and suit and immediately go surf! After your surf session, you can even return the board and wetsuit to our surf truck that same day.
Top of the Line Wetsuit Rentals
Our high quality 4mm wetsuits are what we recommend to be worn during our surf lessons year-round. The water temperature in Ventura over summer ranges from 61-64 °F and over winter it ranges from 58-61°F. We carry 4mm wetsuits because it is the perfect amount of thickness to keep you warm and comfortable during your surf lesson or rental.
Wetsuit Sizes
We have wetsuits available for all sizes! Our wetsuit sizes range from a Junior 4 up to a XXXL. The junior wetsuits we carry are unisex and start from a size 4 and end at a size 14. These wetsuits can fit children from the age of 3 and up. Our adult women’s wetsuits follow the same sizing pattern starting at size 4 and ending at a size 16. For adult men, we have wetsuits from size small up to XXXL. Based on your height and weight we will accommodate you with any wetsuit size needed!

Rip Curl wetsuits are designed with some of the best neoprene and most innovative rubber technology available! Made with E5 flash lining, black mesh skin panels, and E4 thermoflex neoprene, this wetsuit is very durable, flexible, and warm. These wetsuits have been around since the 70s and have been known to be one of the top wetsuits out there for decades.
Why Buell?
We also carry Buell wetsuits. These wetsuits started in 2009 and are now one of the most common wetsuits you’ll see surfers wear! Buell wetsuits are known to be really comfortable with technology designed to keep you surfing longer. This wetsuit has a back zip entry which makes it easy to slide in and out of. Features also include a ninja neoprene v-foam, padding in the knees, and wrist and ankle waterway seals. Overall, this is a very warm and comfortable wetsuit we carry for our clients to enjoy the ocean!
Rental Rates
Our team is equipped to provide insight and direction for all on the right board to rent for your skillset and the surf conditions in Ventura that day. Our team can tell you the full surf report and where the best place to surf is according to your skillset, board size, and wave conditions for any day you are renting. If you don’t have a way of transporting your surfboard, we provide soft racks and straps for $15 the first day and $10 for any additional day and also offer help to load any gear needed.
